Ait-ben-haddou day trip highlights:

Cross the Tizi n'Tichka  pass in the Atlas Mountains.

Visit the Film Studios, the cinema museum and Taourirt Kasbah in Ouarzazate.

Visit the UNESCO world heritage Ksar of Ait-Ben-Haddou.

Discover and learn more about the old caravan trading.

Have you heard about Thami El Glaoui known as the Lord of the Atlas? Learn more about him and his family.

I believe that Marrakesh ought to be earned as a destination. The journey is the preparation for the experience. Reaching it too fast derides it, makes it a little less easy to understand.

-  Tahir Shah, In Arabian Nights: A Caravan of Moroccan Dreams

Ait Ben-Haddou is an ancient, fortified, red earthen village along a former caravan route between the Sahara and Marrakesh. Arriving from Marrakesh, Ait Ben-Haddou sits as if a mirage, in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains. Its earthen buildings hold memories of this once bustling trading post; a welcome sight to the nomadic travellers trekking across the Sahara Desert.

Ouzoud Falls (Amazigh: Imuzzar n wuẓuḍ, French: Cascades d'Ouzoud) is the collective name for several tall waterfalls that empty into the El-Abid River gorge. This popular tourism destination is located near the Moyen Atlas village of Tanaghmeilt, in the province of Azilal, 150 km northeast of Marrakech, Morocco.

Ouzoud means "the act of grinding grain" in Berber. This seems to be confirmed by the frequent mills in the region.

The bottom of the falls is accessible through a shaded path of olive trees. At the summit of the falls, there are a dozen old small mills that are still in use. One can also follow a narrow and difficult track leading to the road of Beni Mellal. While descending the gorges from the "wadi el-Abid" in a canyon sometimes one does not distinguish the bottom which is nearly 600 metres down.

It is the most visited site of the region. In the vicinity, green valleys, mills, orchards and a superb circuit of the gorges of the El Abid River (in Arabic, "Slaves' River") are found. Many local and national associations lead projects to protect and preserve the site.

At 8am we pick you up from your hotel in Marrakesh and we will drive to Ouzound Waterfalls trough several berbere villages. Along the way, you will see monkeys and even you will have the opportunity to greet them as they are not as shy as you might expect.

We will spend the day at the waterfalls meet the villagers, learn about their culture or just simple enjoy this wonderful day and be amazed by its beauty.

(don't forget to charge your cameras)

On the evening we will drive you back to your hotel in Marrakesh.

Casablanca, Morocco's economic capital, is located on the Atlantic Ocean, north-west of Morocco, 340 km from the Strait of Gibraltar. With a population of nearly 4 million, Casablanca is Morocco's largest city, industrial, economic and naval centre, one of the largest man-made ports in the world.

We start our day trip in Marrakesh. We'll pick you up at your hotel or at the airport.

You'll start your tour at 9 am in Marrakesh. From there you'll travel about 3 hours to Casablanca.

We will take for about 2 hours a toll road and near Settat we'll have a coffee break.

We'll see the famous Hassan II Mosque, have a lunch in restaurant "Le Petit Rocher" and after a ride along the Corniche we'll visit the famous Morocco Mall.

For the guests who prefer to see the Art Deco Area we can arrange a local tour guide.

I wish Casablanca to be endowed with a large, fine building of witch it can be proud until the end of time. I want to build this mosque on the water, because God's throne is on the water.

-  King Hassan II about Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca

Casablanca's image is the original Moroccan style and the twentieth century. It is defined by the blend of modern French urban design of the 20th century, the Spanish-Moroccan style and the coexistence of Art Deco. Casablanca was the first city in the world to take into account its aerial cityscape. Although Casablanca is the one of the most popular tourist destinations in Morocco, it is precisely because of its original atmosphere that we find original places (restaurants, shops) that are designed to serve tourists. Casablanca is the ideal place to get to know Morocco.

Essaouira, has long been considered as one of the best anchorages of the Moroccan coast. In 1506, the king of Portugal, D. Manuel I, ordered a fortress to be built there. The present city of Essaouira was built during the mid-eighteenth century by the Moroccan King, Mohammed III. Essaouira served as Morocco's principal port, offering the goods of the caravan trade to the world. Essaouira city is 185km from Marrakesh; it is considered one of the most beautiful coastal towns of Morocco. On our 1 day trip to Essaouira, we will detect a set on the Atlantic coast of Morocco. This town is a great place for the visitors who visit Morocco for the first time to explore its beauty.

The medina is home to many small arts and crafts businesses, notably cabinet making and 'thuya' wood-carving (using roots of the Tetraclinis tree), both of which have been practised in Essaouira for centuries. The fishing harbour, suffering from the competition of Agadir and Safi remains rather small, although the catches (sardines, conger eels) are surprisingly abundant due to the coastal up-welling generated by the powerful trade winds and the Canaries Current. Essaouira remains one of the major fishing harbours of Morocco. Essaouira is also a centre of argan oil production. It has become a tourist attraction due to the tree-climbing goats who are unique to the region, as argan trees are the only type the goats climb.

The lovely climate of Essaouira and its beautiful Portuguese architecture has always attracted artists and poets, but it continues to be a traditional fishing port at its heart these days.

Essaouira is a good choice for people who like to see the sea side, fishing and water sports; we will make your 1 day trip to Essaouira enjoyable and unforgettable.

We will make our way back to Marrakesh in the evening. Our driver will drop you off at your Riad or the place of your choice.

Imlil, is a village in the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco. It is a good starting point for a trekking holiday or for climbing Jbel Toubkal, the highest mountain in North Africa (4167m). Imlil has a variety of shops and "pensions" as well as being a trail-head village for treks deeper into the mountains including the ascent of Toubkal. As you travel up to Imlil, the countryside around you will transform: from arid dust to green, leafy foliage. The temperature will drop also, a very welcome relief if Marrakesh is hot.

Traveller pickup is offered. Let us know your local city hotel/Riad in Imlil or Marrakesh with details to pick up you. If you require transfer from Marrakesh airport let us know all details.

We organize Atlas mountains day trip with local guide which starts at 9 am from your hotel or riad. You will start guided walking through the traditional Berber villages and you will learn about Berber activates. You will experience hospitality in rural areas. You visit places where the Berber people spend the day working in agriculture.

In Morocco never be surprised. If you see a donkey flying, just say Allah is capable of anything.

Relax at the cafe until night falls. Mind the mosquitoes though from the river. At sunset, you will hear the sound of the call to prayer. The mosques sound even more ancient and timeless in the mountains, the sound echoing through the hills, the distant villages far down the valley seeming to reply. One of the great delights of the area is to sit on the Kasbah roof eating lunch or taking tea and watching the subtle changes of colour of the surrounding mountains as the sun moves.

Ourika Valley, It rises in the High Atlas and flows through the Ourika Valley, 30 km from Marrakesh. A number of interesting plants have been recorded in this valley beginning in the late 19th century including Fraxinus dimorpha. This valley is the sole location within the High Atlas Range where the endangered primate Barbary macaque, Macaca sylvanus is known to occur; this primate is found in the Middle Atlas and a few disjunctive populations in Algeria and Gibraltar.

Ourika Valley, due to its many waterfalls and several attractions, is a very popular Ourika day trip from Marrakesh.

The region is inhabited by Berber people who practice a traditional way of life. Despite its proximity to Marrakesh, it is still considered relatively "unspoiled".
